Business Boss: Meet Candy Randolph!

Selling houses and supporting first responders across Central Indiana

By Kristin Fouts April 19, 2023

Questions and answers (and inspiration!) with Candy Randolph, half of the successful Rooted Realty Group (part of Keller Williams) in Avon.  She and husband Jon invest in their surrounding communities and the people who choose them to help buy or sell a home. Candy is lively and fun and incredibly passionate about her work!

1. What (or who) inspired you to start your business?

The real estate agent I used to purchase our first home many, many years ago inspired us, but in an unexpected way. He didn’t educate us on buying our first home, and we vowed we would do better at educating and helping people with their biggest investment.

2. What do you love most about the work you do?

All the people! I get to work with a whole gamut of people: our clients, lenders, title company, appraisers, inspectors, vendors, co-op agents, the community and so many more incredible people. Each one teaches us something along the way!

3. What advice do you have for others wanting to start a business?

Do it! I was in the rat race of corporate America for a long time and when I finally mustered up the courage to do it (after making a vision board and looking at it every day), I have never once looked back.

 4. What do you do to take care of yourself, and how do you make/find time to do it?

This is so important! I know without a doubt that in order to take care of others well, I need to take care of myself well. I do A LOT! I write down my blessings each day, even if it’s only one. This keeps me humble and focused on what is most important to me. We try to keep our priorities in line: God, family, business.

I recently started cutting out “things that may not be healthy for me” like the two two-liters of Coke Zero I would drink every day. Yep… I said it… TWO two-liters! Yikes!!  While it’s been difficult at times, it’s been so empowering. I also have a fabulous small group of ladies that I do life with and we meet every Monday for bible study. Right now we are watching "The Chosen" together and it’s been good for my soul.

How do I ensure that I do these things? That’s easy: I put it in my calendar on my phone. These things are important for my well being and you make time for what’s important to you. By putting it in my calendar, I know I cannot deviate from these things and if I do, my body feels it. Best advice I can give you - make the time for yourself- YOU are WORTH it!

5. What can we readers do to support you in the community?

I love this question! Empowered people empower others and that’s so important. You can support me and my husband by reaching out to us for your real estate needs. We give back to the community by giving you back part of our commission when you use us to buy, sell or invest in real estate. Heroes in our community receive 25% of our commission. Our heroes are teachers, firefighters/EMT’s, healthcare workers, law enforcement, all military and we add clergy :) It’s our pleasure to give back to those who give our community so much!

6. What is your favorite spot to visit around Hendricks County?

Oh goodness… there are many places my husband and I love to visit in Hendricks County! When we first moved to Avon, we enrolled in the Avon Citizen’s Police Academy and Fire Department Academy. Both were incredible opportunities to literally put on the gear, experience real-life scenarios, and deeply appreciate the hard work and life-saving effort they give each and every day. I’m so thankful Avon allows its citizens to participate in these programs!

We also enjoy visiting all the parks in Avon and Brownsburg. We especially enjoy visiting Stephens Park where we can be spotted playing pickleball on a nice day! If you haven’t tried this fun game, you should check it out! We are also excited to check out all the trails in the parks this year.

Some places we enjoy eating and socializing at are Opa, Thai District, Thai Basil, BruBurger, Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt, 3 Agave Mexican,  BJ’s Brewhouse and so many more. We are also pumped with the recently opened Cane’s Chicken, Crumbl Cookie, and soon to be Chicken Salad Chick!
