Staying close to home? Here are some great LOCAL activities to check out!

By Kristin Fouts March 8, 2023

We decided to stay close to home (for the most part) during Spring Break this year. Thank goodness we have incredible libraries, parks departments, and local businesses that provide EXCELLENT programming to keep the kiddos busy, and that work well with my schedule. Check out these TEN opportunities, and be aware that registration (if required) might be full:

Library Events

  • March 23, 5pm: Garden Time: Kindness Rocks at Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library. Celebrate Garden Week at PGTPL! Create kindness rocks to leave for someone else to find! For school agers and tweens.
  • March 24, 1pm: LEGO Mania! at Brownsburg Public Library. It's LEGOs and Duplos and all kinds of creative building with your friends.  Heck, you can even invite your brothers and sisters!  It's LEGO fun for the whole family! No registration is required, just drop in to the School Age Room and build some cool LEGO creations with your friends.  Try one of our challenges or just make your own work of art.   We'll even slide open the wall so we can spread out a bit, too.  There'll be lots of room for everyone!
  • March 23 and 30, 5:30pm: Family Board Game Night at Avon Public Library. Drop in to our weekly (Thursday) board game night! Beginners and board game enthusiasts of all ages are welcome. You may bring your own games or play with the ones provided. The program will be held downstairs in Meeting Room A.
  • March 28, 10am and 1pm, and March 29, 10am: Preschool Storytime: On the Farm at Brownsburg Public Library (REGISTRATION REQUIRED).  Activities such as stories, songs and crafts have been planned.  Please choose ONE (1) class and register each child separately, to help ensure accurate program totals. For ages 3 1/2 - Kindergarten.
  • March 30, 5pm: Sink or Sail at Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library. Test your engineering and building skills! Create your own sailing boat and see how many coins it can carry! For school agers and tweens.
