1. What (or who) inspired you to start your business?
I became a Certified Birth Doula in high school, then a Postpartum Doula just after high school, then achieved getting my license for Massage Therapy. I knew I wanted to do my own thing, with my own hours, and work all three areas that I loved together! My newest addition is adding meet-up groups for parents with infants, or toddlers.
2. What do you love most about the work you do?
I love getting to support people and families in times where they need an extra set of hands, an hour of relaxation or tension relief, or someone to be present and create a safe and secure environment.
3. What advice do you have for others wanting to start a business?
Just do it. The beginning is a lot of work, and there are many learning curves. But if you set your mind to it, you will do amazing things!
4. What do you do to take care of yourself, and how do you make/find time to do it?
I genuinely have to schedule it in often. I try to have “office hours” for responding to clients (unless we are close to a birth!), and keep my weekends and most evenings for family time. My favorite self care is receiving a massage, reading a book, or just enjoying some quiet time outside!
5. What can we readers do to support you in the community?
Come check out the groups if you have littles! They will be less frequent in the summer, but you can read about them on my website then contact me if you have kiddos within those ages. I would love to help get you connected with other families in the area in the same stages of life that you are in.
6. What is your favorite spot to visit around Hendricks County?
La Hacienda is right up top. I love some good Mexican cuisine!
