Best Sledding Hills in Hendricks County

'Tis the season for snowy outdoor fun!

By Kristin Fouts February 2, 2022

Winter weather is upon us, and soon your kids will want to get out of the house to throw snowballs, build snowmen, make snow angels, and go sledding! But, where are the best hills around Hendricks County to pick up good speed? Stay close to home and check out one of these FOUR top-rated spots:

  • W.S. Gibbs Memorial Park in Danville (4521 Gibbs Rd): Find the 30-foot hill, but do NOT sled toward the pond!
  • Bible Church of Brownsburg (6045 E. CR 500/Tilden Rd.): Also known locally as Hamstra Hill after former property owners.
  • Washington Township Park in Avon (115 S. County Rd. 575): The best spot is near the large shelter and basketball courts in the upper park. Watch out for the trees!

  • Hummel Park in Plainfield (1500 S. Center Street): A wide, steep hill is located on the back side of the park. Not accessible from the main entrance, but take Sugar Grove Rd. to get closer.
