Business Boss: Meet Terri Anderson

Dancer, instructor, entrepreneur ... and mom!

By Kristin Fouts December 15, 2021

Questions and answers (and inspiration!) with Terri Anderson, the incredibly talented co-owner of Sister Act Dance Academy (SADA) in Brownsburg. She and her equally-talented sister, Annah, have taken their passion for and years of experience in dance, performance theater, and choreography and created a wildly successful studio for dancers of all ages. Their goal is to "educate the minds, bodies, and souls of our students, to teach them the skills needed for successful life, whether or not dance will be their professional passion."

1. What (or who) inspired you to start your business?

My passion and love for not only dance but working with young dancers/artist inspired me to open SADA.

2. What do you love most about the work you do?

The best part of my job is creating a safe and welcoming environment for all of our dancers. The best part of my job is connecting with each of my dancers and helping them to reach their full potential.

3. What advice do you have for others wanting to start a business?

Just go for it! One quote that truly inspired me to go for it is from Steve Jobs: “If you are working on something that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed, the vision pulls you.”

4. What do you do to take care of yourself, and how do you make/find time to do it?

Making time to take care of myself is always hard. Being a mom of 3 and a business owner, I’m pulled in many different directions 24-7. I find working out first thing in the morning is best for my mental health and keeps me on track.

5. What can we readers do to support you in the community?

Check out one of our classes and learn more about the different opportunities our studio offers.

6. Favorite spot to go around Hendricks County?

My favorite spot in Hendricks County is enjoying all of the fun and festive parades, farmer markets and local events put on by the Brownsburg community.
