Often referred to as the Festival of Lights, Hanukkah (or Chanukah) is a Jewish holiday celebrated with food, fun, and family. This year, the eight nights of festivities begin November 28. Hanukkah ends December 6.
Macaroni KID Hendricks is always working to round up the best seasonal cheer. Know of a Hanukkah event not listed here? Please email mackidhendricks@macaronikid.com and we'll add it to this list!
Sweet potato latkes (pancakes) aren't the only treat served when families gather for Hanukkah. Jelly donuts, called sufganiyot, noodle kugel (sweet or savory), and brisket are also enjoyed!
At family celebrations, every child receives a dreidel and gelt (foil-wrapped chocolate coins (or real money)), which symbolizes appreciation for education, wealth and charity.
