Real Family Trips: Beach Time @ Lieber SRA

Outdoor family fun, and so close!

By Alexa Beltz (Plainfield) June 16, 2021

**Thank you to  Plainfield mom Alexa Beltz for sharing about her family's fun adventure!

A mere forty-five minutes from Hendricks County is our family’s favorite little swimming spot. Located at the back of Lieber State Recreational Area in Cloverdale, Indiana, is a beach with sandcastle perfect sand and a cool, refreshing lake. It’s a short walk from the parking lot to the beach, making it quick and easy to carry our beach chairs, cooler, and floats. Bring lots of sunscreen!

With a large shaded canopy area for when you need to get out of the sun, and portable toilets near the cars, we love having everything we need for hours of fun! Although there is no lifeguard on duty, the large roped-off area of the lake still feels safe. Weekdays offer a quieter experience, but on weekends the kids love to watch the boats race around the other side of the water!

If everyone is still up for some fun after all that swimming, we make the extra twenty-minute drive to Cataract Falls in Owen County. Both of its beautiful waterfalls will give you a picture-perfect view and hiking options for the adventurous!
