Fresh air is good for the soul — not to mention it helps to get the wiggles out of the kids. We put together a list to help you find fun things to do this winter with your family in Hendricks County (or just a short drive away!) during these next few winter months:

1. Hendricks County Sledding Hills

As soon as the snow falls, grab a sled or saucer and head to one of Hendricks County's fun sledding hills! We love sledding at Washington Township Park in Avon, Hummel Park in Plainfield, Bible Church of Brownsburg, and Ellis Park in Danville. Anytime snow is on the ground. Free!

2. Ice Skating at Penguin Park

Now located at Murphy Aquatic Park! Enjoy skating on a synthetic rink, rent an igloo for more family fun, and enjoy snacks from the concession stand. $8 person, 3 and under are free.

3. Winter Hikes

Explore the many local trails in and around Hendricks County. Anytime. Free

4. Snow Tubing at Strawtown Koteewi Run, Noblesville

Ride a tube through 700 feet of snowy downhill fun as many times as you can during your session. No need to check the weather--they make their own snow! Reserve a time slot daily until 10 PM. $20 - $50

5. Indianapolis Zoo

See all the cold weather-loving animals like the tigers, walrus, and Arctic fox outdoors and warm up in the desert, ocean, dolphin, or butterfly garden indoor exhibits. Noon-9pm Sunday-Thursday, noon-10pm Friday-Saturday. Closed Christmas Eve and Day, New Year’s Eve and Day.

6. Veal's Ice Tree

Visit the colorful, massive icy tree sculpture--an Indianapolis winter tradition since 1961. Watch Veal's FB page for updates, then daily until 10 PM. Free
