It is the season of licking your child's supermen or blue moon or cotton candy-flavored ice cream cone every 30 seconds while you're also enjoying your own more distinguished flavor like Moose Tracks or Fat Elvis. Ice cream makes for sticky fingers, chocolatey mouths and chins, and stain drips on t-shirts, which is why it's the perfect treat for kids on a hot day. Monday, July 15th is National Ice Cream Day (in case you needed an excuse to eat ice cream.)
Whether you're going for a celebration or a just-because-it's-hot treat, getting ice cream has a way of putting a smile on everyone's face.

- Mandy's Ice Cream in Brownsburg: The ice cream Mandy's offers is of premium quality. If you're a chocolate fan, try one of the Zanzibar chocolate flavors: Zanzimint, Zoreo, or regular Zanzibar chocolate.
- Danny's Mexican Ice Cream in Avon: Danny's makes their own ice cream locally. Check out the creamy standard ice cream shop flavors as well as some fun Mexican flavors you've never even thought could be ice cream, like queso, avocado, and corn on the cob.
- Frost Bite in Avon: Drive thru or eat outside at this Avon local favorite. For a sweet and salty treat, get fries to dip in your chocolate milk shake.
- Lizton Dairy Bar in Lizton: Get a creamy, super tall soft-serve cone with a twist! Don't forget to order a ginormous tenderloin sandwich.
- FlossieMae's Ice Cream and Coffee in Pittsboro: Show up on Turtle Tuesday for an extra-special turtle sundae topped with roasted pecans. FlossieMae's serves Hershey Ice Cream, and you can get it served in a chocolate-dipped waffle cone and a coffee to go.
- Danville Dips in Danville: Located in a historic building, this relatively new ice cream shop is expanding its menu to include custom cakes, deli sandwiches, coffee drinks and more! Lots of unique and traditional flavors.
- Gee's Nice Cream in Plainfield: This family-owned shop near Perry Crossing recently announced they offer "instant freeze ice cream" made with dry ice!
