Cures for Boredom

Will it ever stop raining? It seems like every day in the forecast lately has called for some kind of storm or showers. Especially if your kids are home for the summer, the rain can become monotonous, and the boredom levels go through the roof, leaving you at your wits end.

No worries, friends! We have some ideas for you!

  1. Check out your Pinterest boards. All those cute craft and activity ideas you've saved but never tackled? A rainy day is perfect for that! Get your kids involved in choosing, planning, and doing the crafts or activities. Try: Milk PaintingMake a Photo Coaster, or Finger Knitting.

  2. Take a trip to your local library, or visit a different one. Each library has its own unique feel and programs for families. Check out the toys, book recommendations, and activities. Check the Macaroni Kid Calendar for some unique library event opportunities.

  3. Plan a meal together. Let your child look through a cookbook and help choose a meal. Make a list of ingredients you need. Go shopping together. Prepare and cook the food together. You might end up getting more input on meal planning, help in the kitchen, and kids that will more likely eat the food you make for them!

  4. Explore some of Hendricks County's awesome indoor kid-friendly businesses. We recommend these to start: uPaint Pottery and Sky Zone in Plainfield, Brownsburg Bowl and Kid's Planet in Brownsburg, The Tie Dye Lab and Hoosier Warriors Gym in Avon.
