Spin Master games recently sent me their Moustache Smash game. I have to admit, I do not embrace the moustache craze, but I played this game at the Macaroni Kid meet up and truly loved it. My abs hurt from laughing so hard.
I was ready to try this game out on my whole family. Our girls are 4 and 2 so we can't play adult games without them wanting to join in, but they aren't ready to play games with out help. We really needed a game that we could all enjoy. Moustache Smash states it is a game for 7 and up but we easily adapted so everyone could participate.
How to play: There are 6 different moustache shapes and 3 different colors. Players hold their moustaches up to their mouth and there is a suction cup at the other end. The different 'staches are represented on the cards. When a card is flipped over with your mustache color OR shape, you wack it to get your suction cup to stick to it. There are also cards that prompt you to rotate your moustaches and a "SMASH" card where anyone can try to get it.
We played different rounds with ages: 2-88, yes my grandmother got in on the fun!
If you want to adapt for younger kids: We gave our 2 year old her own moustach and little pile of cards. She hung out on my lap and smashed away, mimicking us as we played. For the 4 year old we gave her a color that no one else had. This gave her a better chance to recognize her match before someone else did.
What I probably loved best about the game is that if a kid got upset about not winning a SMASH card, at the turn of the next card they were over it because they wanted to try to get that one.
I highly recommend this game for the entire family! If you would like more details on this game and others by SpinMaster check out: Spin Master Games.
The retail value of this game is $15.99 (on 12/23/14 I saw it at Target in Avon for $10.74 if you want to get for a gift soon.
Happy Family Game Night!
